Medical Certificates Australia is Closing – Important Information for Patients

Medical Certificates Australia will discontinue trading on the 31st of December 2025.

Since opening, we have cared for almost 70,000 patients and completed more than 160,000 consultations. We are proud to have maintained an unrivalled 4.9-star Google rating, based on over 1,500 positive reviews. We are extremely grateful for the trust placed in us and sincerely thank you for your support.

Will I still be able to access and download previously issued documents through the online portal?

Yes. Patient portal access will remain available for six months following closure, until the 30th of June 2026.

Will I still be able to seek a consultation for a certificate extension, clinical advice or a follow-up for previous consultations?

No. Medical Certificates Australia will not provide clinical care, medical advice, or follow-up for any prior consultations after the 31st of December 2025. Patients should seek care from their regular general practitioner or another appropriate healthcare provider. We have listed some online service providers below.

What will happen to my clinical record?

Medical Certificates Australia is required by law to retain all medical records for a period of seven years. Your personal and clinical information will continue to be stored securely and encrypted, in accordance with applicable privacy and health records legislation. Your data will never be sold, transferred, or used for marketing purposes. For further information, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

Will you continue to verify or validate previously issued certificates for my employer or educational institution?

Yes. Our administration team will continue to verify and validate certificates that were issued prior to closure for a period of six months, until the 30th of June 2026. After this date, verification requests will no longer be supported, although records will continue to be retained in accordance with legal requirements.

How can I obtain administrative support?

If you require administrative assistance (for example: billing enquiries or administrative certificate amendments such as updates to your address) you may contact our administration team via the Contact Us page. Following the 31st of December 2025, administrative support will operate on reduced hours and response times may be longer than usual. We will endeavour to respond to all requests in a timely manner.

Please note that as we will no longer be trading following the 31st of December 2025, requests for new consultations or new documents cannot be fulfilled. Clinical content, dates, or medical assessments on previously issued certificates cannot be amended after closure.

What other online services can I use?

If you require an online or telehealth consultation, a number of alternative services are available. Medical Certificates Australia has no affiliation with any of the services listed below, and inclusion on this page does not constitute endorsement or a guarantee of service quality. This list is not exhaustive and reflects services that can be readily found through a standard internet search.

We encourage you to conduct your own research prior to engaging any service. This includes asking about consultation fees, eligibility for rebates, practitioner type (e.g. pharmacist or doctor), consultation method, and the state from which certificates are issued. Some employers and educational institutions require certificates to be issued by practitioners located in your same state or territory.

If you require a face-to-face consultation, services such as HotDoc can be used to locate a General Practitioner in your local area.

In an emergency, or if you are concerned about your health, please seek immediate medical attention or call 000.
